Union and Storm advance to ISL final. The Union knocked off the top seeded Royal 5-3, and the Storm powered past the Arsenal 8-1. In game one the Union got two goals from Lamaul Crofton and then held off the Royal 5-3. Crofton scored the first two goals of the game before Carlos Trott cut the lead in half in the second quarter. The lead was 2-1 Union at the half. Shakii Pearman scored early in the third to restore the Union’s two goal lead. Damon Wade would answer back with a spectacular left footed goal from the far side to cut the lead to 3-2 after three. Ryan Nesbitt doubled the lead again two minutes into the fourth giving the Union a 4-2 lead. Jemeiko Jennings scored for the Royal with 8 minutes left to play, but Shakii Pearman would erase any doubts, finding the back of the net in the last two minutes to send Union to their second straight ISL final. The Union ran out the clock and held on for the 5-3 win. Keimo Simmons filled in for an injured Andrew JJombe in goal for the Union and picked up the victory. Zane Hendrickson took the loss for the Royal.
In Tuesday night’s second game it was all Storm. The two clubs played a scoreless first quarter. Angelo Simmons got the Storm on the board in the second quarter. With just under two minutes to play Phil Anderson scored to give the Storm a 2-0 lead after one. Angelo Simmons scored his second goal of the game with five minutes left in the second quarter to build the Storm lead to 3-0. Arsenal finally got on the scoresheet courtesy of Cecoy Robinson’s goal in the 11th minute of the third quarter. Phil Anderson would squash any Arsenal momentum with just one minute left in the third quarter. Anderson redirected a shot past Arsenal Goalkeeper Jason Smith to give the Storm a 4-1 lead after three. The Storm owned the fourth quarter scoring four goals. Phil Anderson tallied twice to give him four for the night. Angelo Simmons completed his hat trick and O.J. Minors added a goal to propel8 the Storm to the 8-1 victory. The Arsenal played without team leader Dwyia Blyden after Blyden was injured in the Arsenal 7-6 OT victory over the Knights.
