Under Bascome's vision, the ISL is rapidly evolving into one of the most exciting new ventures to be developed for Bermuda soccer. The spring of 2007 marks the launch of years of hard work and development. The coming years will see the ISL grow by ways of a Youth Development League, and expansion of the ISL to other islands throughout the Caribbean.
Bascome is the driving force behind nearly every aspect of operation for the ISL, including corporate sales, marketing, advertising, venue administration, public relations, and ticket sales. He has successfully forged relationships with high-profile corporations such as Cellular One, Bermuda Department of Tourism, Endurance Specialty Insurance and Adidas USA, as well as numerous local businesses.
David Bascome began his soccer career at the age of 7 in his native country of Bermuda. By the age of 16 David was playing First Division soccer for the North Village Club, Bermuda. At age 18 he made his first appearance for the Bermuda National Team. By age 20, David signed his first professional contract with the Harrisburg Heat of the National Professional Soccer League, USA. After 13 seasons of professional indoor soccer, Bascome won his first Championship during his 2003-2004 campaign with the Baltimore Blast. David just completed his 16th season and ranks 14th all-time in the MISL with over 1,000 points. A five-time League All-Star, he is Harrisburg’s all-time leader in nearly every category (points, games played, total goals, blocks and game-winning goals). He was just the 16th player in League history to surpass the 900-point plateau. David has earned honors as team MVP, League MVP Finalist, Five time League All-Star and is one of the leagues most prolific two-way players and leader in scoring and games played.
In 2002 he was recognized by the Queen of England for his service to his community in his homeland of Bermuda. He is the recipient of Member of Order of the British Empire. David also finds time to write a weekly column for the Bermuda Sun.
