Former ISL scoring champion Antwan Russell was the first player selected in the 2010 Lindo’s Island Soccer League Superdraft at Grotto Bay Resort. Russell, the 2008 ISL Scoring Champion, was picked by the Kings. The Kings were 0-5 in the 2009 season and missed the playoffs for the first time in team history. Russell will team with Aquino Grant to try and return the Kings to the Playoffs in 2010. Jahron Dickerson was taken by Apex with the second overall pick. The Titans then took GK Shawn Perinchief with the third pick. Kayai Darrell went fourth to the Knights. The Arsenal and new head coach John Barry Nusum selected Ralph Bean Jr. with the fifth pick. ISL veteran Jameiko Jennings went to the Royal with the sixth overall pick. The Storm selected Kwame Steede with the Seventh pick overall, and the Union ended the first round by selecting Blen Bean. Overal 64 players were drafted in this year’s draft. The ISL will be holding a Netball tournament in the fall and after the fourth round of the ISL draft eight Netball coaches were paired with ISL teams and the coaches announced their two protected players in the upcoming tournament in the fall. The draft ran smoothly except for the Seventh Round. Kings Head Coach Marvin Belboda failed to turn in his pick in the one minute allotment of time so he forfeited his selection until the end of the round. The Apex immediately selected Wolde Place and the Kings settled on Rui Furtardo at the end of the Seventh Round. The Apex selected Shawn Goater with the next to last pick of the draft, and the Kings selected Che Simmons with the last pick.
